Les Deux Alpes (aka Les 2 Alpes) is a small ski resort with a population of
approximately 3,000 outside of the ski season. However, the population is boosted
massively to over 35,000 when the ski holiday season is in full swing. During the winter
ski season, Les Deux Alpes is popular with British and Italian holidaymakers who outnumber
the French.
Most of the tourist development in Les Deux Alpes took place in the 1970’s and this is reflected
in the architechture and feel of the resort. As such the bustling central square and main street give
the impression of a busy town rather than an alpine village but it is easy to escape into the beauty of
the mountains.
Les Deux Alpes is an ideal ski holiday destination for beginners and intermediates who are well
catered for on the high-altitude slopes. However, there are only a limited number of nursery slopes
at resort level. Les 2 Alpes may not have enough to offer the most advanced skiers and snowboarders
as there is a limited choice of black runs.

A free ski-bus service links all the lift stations in Les Deux Alpes throughout the day and well
into the evening. If you feel like a change, you can take a day trip to nearby Alpe D’Huez which is around 40km away,
for a spot of skiing.
Alternative activities in Les Deux Alpes include Snow-shoeing, cross country skiing, shopping in the resorts
designer sports shops or visiting on of the fitness centres.
Eating out in Les 2 Alpes offers plenty of choice, with over 50 restaurants offering international cuisine,
crepes, fast food and local dishes. Les 2 Alpes offers plenty for night owls, not only can you go night skiing,
there are over 20 bars and pubs in the resort plus three nightclubs: La Casa, L’Avalanche and L’Opera.
