The purpose-built American ski resort of Snowmass is the largest ski area of Aspen's four mountains and offers skiers good value-for-money in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. However, skiing in Snowmass is most popular amongst intermediates, partly due to world-renowned Big Burn run which offers the best vertical descent in the US. Experts can challenge themselves on the tricky steep chutes, as well as enjoying the vast amount of great tree skiing and off-piste terrain. Beginners are also well catered for, with some forgiving wide and open slopes. Après ski is both lively and glamorous, with excellent restaurants in plentiful supply.
