Courchevel - Three Valleys Ski Area
Sensational skiing in one of the most prestigious resorts in the Alps
Ski Courchevel! In this Sahara of snow, skiers and boarders can undertake the ultimate ski safari. If you want to ski till you drop – this is the place.
Courchevel and its neighbours in France’s celebrated Three Valleys – including Méribel, Les Menuires, Val Thorens-Orelle (Europe’s highest ski resort) and St Martin de Belleville – comprise what is arguably the largest ski “domaine” in the world.
It offers great skiing for all abilities, with immaculate pistes and stunning scenery.
Courchevel 1850 (still known as such in spite of the resort’s decision to drop the ‘1850’) boasts a wide selection of fine hotels, designer boutiques, top class restaurants and a buzzing nightlife. Hence this truly world class ski resort is sometimes described as “Paris on ice”
Skiing in Courchevel is spread over four levels, all linked via a free bus service, with slopes offering something for everyone. The high-altitude skiing here is superb with breathtaking views and enormous skies. Skiing holidays in Courchevel are also a great choice for non-skiers. Enjoy delightful cleared walks between villages, classical concerts, helicopter flights, ice climbing and much more.
Skiing and Snowboarding in Courchevel
Beginners ski holidays in Courchevel
In 1850, there are great nursery slopes above the Croisette and by the Altiport. Recent improvements have seen new lifts and rope tows specially designed for beginners. Novices in 1650 will find easy blues to suit gentle progression and the excellent ski schools in both villages are blessed with a high proportion of English speaking instructors.
Intermediates ski holidays in Courchevel
As you would imagine in such an enormous ski area as the Three Valleys, the opportunities are virtually endless, with an excellent mix of high altitude and tree line skiing. Try the excellent reds down into the Creux valley and the numerous, less crowded pistes of 1650.
Advanced ski holidays in Courchevel
Some of the best off-piste skiing can be found on The Grand Couloir at the top of the Saulire or the descents from the summit of the Creux Noirs or Chanrossa chairlifts. Mogul hounds are spoilt for choice with over 50 black runs to negotiate across the whole ski area.
