Set on a sunny terrace above the Rhône valley, Crans Montana enjoys stunning views across the peaks of the Valais region, and offers an excellent variety of skiing and snowboarding to cater for all ages and abilities. The well-linked ski area is accessible by several cable-cars from the villages and the free shuttle service carries guests quickly to the key lift stations. The majority of pistes are blues and red: wide open runs, an intermediate skiers’ heaven, whilst La Plaine Morte glacier at an altitude of 3,000m is not to be missed for the more challenging runs and panoramic views of the Alps. With a friendly and laid-back atmosphere, the resort is great for beginners, who will benefit from the nursery slopes in the resorts 'Snow Island' or at Arnouva. Mountain restaurants are plentiful offering local and international cuisine, whilst non-skiers can also enjoy a vast array of winter-walking, cross-country or après-ski activities.
Beginners skiing in Crans Montana
Crans Montana boats several excellent ski schools and good nursery slopes within the resort itself at Snow Island and on the mountain’s gently carving blue runs where wide open runs provide optimal conditions for learning. Ski schools meet either at the bottom of the Bibi Express lift at Snow Island or the mid-station of the Signal cable car.
Intermediates skiing in Crans Montana
The ski area is perfect for intermediate skiers with an excellent selection of blue and red runs covering almost 125km of piste. For more challenging runs and to enjoy one of the longest pistes, skiers should head to the Plaine Morte Glacier at 3,000m to enjoy a 12km run down to Barzettes.
Advanced skiing in Crans Montana
Advanced skiers have a selection of off-piste runs and a selection of black runs. Not to be missed is the National - which stages the Men’s World Cup Downhill. Ski schools within the resort also offer race training.
Snowboarding in Crans Montana
Boarders have the "Space Adrenalin" Snow Park with half pipe, boardercross, jumps and rails but the terrain across the mountain provides plentiful surfing ground for just cruising or practicing your tricks.
