Ellmau is an ideal family resort which offers a great ski school and gentle nursery slopes perfect for those starting out on their skiing adventure. This laid-back, picturesque village is situated between the Kitzbühel alps and the Wilder Kaiser.
The Wilder Kaiser region includes the villages of Ellmau, Going, Scheffau and Sölland is one of the largest ski areas in Austria. There are 90 cable cars and modern lifts that link up 280 km of piste in this fantastic area.
Ellmau has great nursery slopes for beginners in the village centre along with a larger section of more gentle slopes just outside.
There is an extensive choice of blue runs between Ellmau and Söll perfect for inexperienced and second time skiers.
Experts will find plenty to choose from both on and off-piste, there are a number of black runs for the skier who likes to be challenged; one of the best starts from the peak of the Hohe Salve through the Leukenwald area.
Food & Drink
Ellmau has 25 or so restaurants, most are hotel dining rooms or small, privately-run establishments, and they usually have traditional menus that include dishes like fondue and strudel. Everything's within easy walking distance of the resort centre.
Ellmau offers diverse après ski options from chilled out tunes in a relaxing environment to shots with your friends at a raucous bar. And being one of the largest resorts in the region, it won't be hard to find somewhere you like.
