Chalet Hotel Valverde is in a prime location of this delightful Italian ski village, set back from the main road and situated right next to the main Punta Jolanda ski lift which quickly takes skiers up to over 2,000m. From here there is a choice of runs either in the direction of Alagna, via the Punta Indren peak at 3,260m or towards the Champoluc side of the Monterosa ski area via Stafal.
For those looking for total convenience and averse to carrying skis, the Jolanda home red run brings you back to the base of the lift, adjacent to the Valverde. Don’t be put off by the run being graded as red-it’s long and open stretches are well within the capability of any skier other than absolute beginners.

The Valverde offers comfortable hotel accommodation with a welcoming open plan lounge and bar area, as well as a quieter corner for reading or games.
The dining room is furnished in traditional trattoria style with warm wooden flooring and a bright and airy ambience, thanks to the large picture windows on one side.
Additional facilities include a ski and boot room on the lower ground floor, providing immediate access to the lift and piste, as well as a spa area with hot-tub, steam room and sauna on the same floor.
Take your pick between the sauna, steam room, and whirlpool hot tub to ease those aching muscles at the end of your ski day, before joining other guests for afternoon tea followed by pre-dinner aperitifs and canapés served in the lounge.
The bedrooms are spread over three floors, with a variety of options from standard twin or double rooms to inter-connecting pairs and spacious suites, which will appeal to larger parties or families. The rooms are simply but comfortably furnished with modern wood flooring and a restful colour scheme.
Every room has either an en suite bath or shower room, hairdryer, TV/DVD and some also have a balcony.
The resort of Gressoney sits in the central of the superb Monterosa ski area, one of the largest in Italy.
There is a large and efficient network of lifts and pistes linking the Ayas Valley and Champoluc in the west and the Valsesia Valley and Alagna in the East, all covered by one lift pass.
Gressoney sits in the middle valley and is a great base from which to discover the amazing skiing on hand.
The Monterosa area is a ‘hidden gem’ as it is relatively unknown in the British market and is a secret that the Italians like to keep to themselves. The pistes are relatively un-crowded, especially on weekdays when the weekend skiers are all hard at work in their offices and factories.
Snow conditions are good throughout the season and the high altitude skiing, up to 3,275m rivals many top French resorts throughout the winter.
